The advice we would give is study the things you enjoy as you are more likely to be successful and enjoy your studies.

We are looking for six GCSE's or equivalent including Maths, English and a core Science at 4 and above but don't take other qualifications into account. We are looking for demonstrated enthusiasm for aviation so it could be relevant, but we recommend getting a taster flight if possible (not a necessity as not everyone has the opportunity) and any clear interest in aviation will be beneficial. There is some good information on our website and we hold future pilot webinars too, Future Pilots.

First of all, focus on your GCSEs and getting lots of life experience wherever possible as we look for a wide variety of skills, both technical and non technical.

I’m joining the air cadets so I know I will be able to have some flying opportunities and gain some good skills.

Is there any other way I can demonstrate my enthusiasm for aviation apart from the air cadets?

Hi Eiden.

That is great news and will help give you a great insight into flying. You could visit airfields or go to air shows, listen to webinars that will be advertised on our website and Linked In, but mostly enjoy the air cadets, make the most of all the opportunities and focus on your GCSE's too.

I would think about how everything you do in life can help you be a good pilot. We are looking for skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem solving, decision making, communication and work load management. These can be applied through school, sports, clubs and definitely air cadets.
