How long is the typical amount of time to be waiting in the hold pool for an offer of employment/start date?

Still very enthusiastic to start! I’ve been waiting around 15 months now, so just wanted to reach out to see if this a normal/typical procedure? I understand there may not be any specific details that you can share, however any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for your message.

We’re so pleased to hear that you’re still enthusiastic about joining British Airways — that means a lot to us.

Wait times in the hold pool can vary depending on a range of operational factors, including training availability, seasonal demand, and business requirements. While many candidates do receive offers within a few months, in some cases — especially when recruitment outpaces immediate demand — the wait can be longer than anticipated.

We completely understand how difficult this can be, especially after waiting for an extended period like 15 months. While we can’t provide individual timelines here, please rest assured that your application remains active, and you’ll be contacted as soon as a suitable opportunity becomes available.

    Dan 😊
