    Hey!

Yes, I have faced them, and they don't disappear once you earn your wings. Whether it’s a surprised look from a customer when they see a woman in the left seat, or subtle comments about "the Captain" (assuming it's the man standing next to me), stereotypes are still out there.

However, I’ve learned to view these moments as opportunities. Every time I land an aircraft smoothly in a crosswind or lead my crew through a complex day, I am quietly dismantling those stereotypes. The best way to answer discouragement is with your head held high, with competence.

For me, the lack of female representation didn't stop me; it inspired me.

When you don't see someone who looks like you doing the job, you realise that you get to be the one to show others it’s possible. For a long time, the flight deck was seen as a "men’s club." By stepping into that space, we aren't just flying planes; we are changing the culture of the industry for the girls who are 5 or 10 years old today.

The aircraft doesn't know, and doesn't care, about your gender, it only cares about your inputs, your skills, and your decisions. The sky is the ultimate level playing field.
