Do you have any advice or tips on how to stand out in the application process for the speed bird programme?

Ronnie B. asked a question to Chloe H.

I read you made it onto the 2011 future pilots programme and I was hoping you could give an insight into what BA are looking for in that initial application before moving them on to the next stage. Any advice on what to do or even what not to do would be much appreciated.

    Hey Ronnie

I did! Honest, hardworking and down to earth applicants; if someone appears like they possess these qualities, we would also assume they would work well with our current crew, after all, one day, they will be spending multiple days at a time with the same people.

It's very cliché, but just be yourself. Before answering questions or preparing for an interview, think about all the times you have demonstrated various qualities relating to working as part of a team or problem solving and make sure you balance detail and succinctness and make it YOUR answer, it is all too easy these days to use AI to help with answers and it is just as easy to spot. As soon as there is a hint of an outside generated response, there is an uncertainty as to whether that applicant is actually an "honest" person.

Use the time/characters allotted. If you're given a limit, you can use the whole lot, there are no points awarded to questions/responses given in half the time etc, but returning to the point above, ensure it is succinct.

Lastly, before any assessments, whether at the beginning of the process or the end, just take a few seconds to pause, breathe a few, slow, deep breaths, reset and compose, this may be the most important thing of it all.
