Greetings, my question is too long to post here so the short version is, after I convert my FAA certificates to their CAA equivalent would purchasing a type rating increase my odds of being hired? If so which type rating should I pursue?

Hi - That's a tricky one to answer! And the short answer is, it depends...
If you are already flying a CS-25 aircraft and you qualify for one of our roles, in terms of hours etc, then having a new type rating put on a UK licence wouldn't be necessary. If you are yet to build any hours, or complete a type rating, then maybe. If you're in a financial position to complete a type rating privately, then it could increase your chances, however the likelihood of us having a campaign for low hours candidates is slim as we are not currently accepting applications from those without at least 500 A320 hours, or having an unfrozen ATPL (or eligible for it to be unfrozen).
Feel free to reply here and hopefully I'll be able to tailor my response a little.

Thank you for the response, what do you think my best pathway forward would be? I am scheduled to convert my FAA certificates to their CAA equivalents in 2026 (US Commercial, Single Engine Land and Sea, Multi Engine Land, Instrument, 570 hours of total time, and I am aggressively time building to meet ATP requirements. Buying a type rating is something I am willing to do if that helps but you mentioned the 500-hour requirement and that doesn't apply to me. I have already obtained the CAA Class 1. Thanks for any guidance you can give me. Jason
