    Hi, thanks for your question.

When British Airways looks for new cabin crew, it isn’t about whether you’ve worked in aviation before. It’s about the personal qualities you bring to the role. The most important are:

    • A genuine passion for giving great service and making people feel welcome
    • Strong communication, with the confidence to make decisions when needed
    • The ability to manage your time well and stay organised on busy days
    • Resilience, so you can keep calm and professional in challenging situations
    • A positive attitude towards learning and developing your skills
    • Being a supportive, empathetic and reliable team player

Cabin crew are also seen as brand ambassadors, which means representing the airline with professionalism and pride on every flight. In practice, that could mean helping a nervous flyer feel at ease, finding solutions when plans change unexpectedly, or simply supporting your colleagues when the day gets tough.

You can read more on the Cabin Crew FAQ page and register for job alerts here.

    I hope that helps

That’s great to hear – to build on and add to Dan’s response - you don’t need previous cabin crew experience to join British Airways. We welcome people from all backgrounds, and many of our crew have joined us as part of a career change.

We’re looking for individuals who are:

    • Customer-focused – delivering exceptional service is at the heart of what we do.
    • Empathetic and caring – you’ll need to be able to support customers in a variety of situations, always with warmth and professionalism.
    • Resilient and adaptable – the role can be fast-paced and ever-changing, so staying calm under pressure is key.
    • A strong team player – you’ll work closely with colleagues on every flight, so collaboration and communication are essential.
    • Safety-conscious – safety is our top priority, and we’ll provide full training to ensure you’re fully equipped to handle any situation onboard.

We provide full initial training, so the right attitude, willingness to learn, and a genuine passion for people are what really stand out.

If you’re ready for a new challenge and love the idea of representing British Airways around the world, we’d love to see your application when recruitment is open.
