Hi, I am a modular student - Do I have any options currently in regards to application for BA?
Hi, I am a modular student training around my young family and self employed job role. I am about to obtain my MEIR rating and aiming to complete my training in September of this year. Do I have any options currently in regards to application for BA? Thanks

Hi Jason.
Congratulations on achieving this while juggling family life. Unfortunately we do not have an active self sponsored route into British Airways at the moment and it is unlikely to be reintroduced in the near future. You can sign up for alerts on our career page, Future Pilots, in case this does change.
The quickest route into British Airways at the moment will be as a Direct Entry Pilot, which will all require hours flown on an aircraft that meets ZFTT specifications. When the campaigns are open we require 500 hours on the A320 for Mainline short haul pilots and 500 hours on any ZFTT aircraft for EuroFlyer. You will also require a UK licence to operate for a UK registered company.
I wish you all the best in completing your course and finding a suitable role and hope to see you at British Airways in the future.

Hi Jason -
You must be extremely busy, I know my children keep me on my toes, never mind doing flying training at the same time!
Sadly, at the moment, no. As Kate mentioned, our Speedbird Self-Sponsored Pathway may have been an option for you but it is currently closed. Until it reopens, the only thing I could suggest, would be to build some jet hours until you become eligible for our Direct Entry Pilot roles.
I do appreciate this is easier said than done; for reasons like this, I really hope the campaign opens again soon.
Best of luck with the rest of your training, maybe one day we'll get to fly together!

Hi both
Thanks very much for getting back to me!
Haha yes the children have definitely provided a significant hurdle during the training thats for sure!
Appreciate the feedback on the current entry criteria for BA - I will keep an eye on it and in the meantime look at some other options to build the minimum hours.
Thanks again and maybe I will meet you sometime in the future!
