View favourites

Hi There My name is Anton, and I am interested in applying for your Speedbird Pilot Academy programme. I would like to ask if a date has already been set for the opening of applications for the next intake, expected in 2026. Thank you for your time and support Best regards, Anton

    Hi Anton -

As we are still in the selection phase of this year's assessment, a date for any possible future intakes has not been discussed. Historically, it has opened at the beginning of each year and I would hope that the same would happen next year.

Keeping my fingers crossed the next intake comes around soon for you!

My birthday is in February which is when I'll turn 17 can I still apply if applications open before then since I know you need to be 17 to apply?

    Hi Christian.

This year we required you to be 17 at the time of your application and 18 by the 1st January 2026. It is likely to be similar, so it may be that you need to wait another year before applying. If that is the case make the most of the time by getting some experience in the aviation world and enjoy what you are doing now. Everything you do will give you good life experience that you can bring to the process!

Thank you Kate. As a follow up question for the speedbird course in terms of glasses do I need just a 2nd pair or something else and with the class 1 medical requirement do I have to take it before applying?

    Hi Christian.

If you require glasses and this is specified on your medical, you will be required to have two pairs with you when operating. You will only need one pair for your medical.

    Hi Christian, to add...

It will depend on someone's individual vision limitation. Please see the following link on the CAA website about restrictions Vision Limitation Codes.

You will need to have the class one medical before you start, however, you do not need a class one medical to apply.

    I hope this has helped.
