Career path

About Neel M.

Key experience
Initially my graduate role was a T-SQL developer and after 4 years I moved into Application Ownership in which I experienced redundancy. Through this I found a new path as a business analyst working on Oil & Energy trading compliance. However the challenges of COVID-19 and other circumstances led me to taking a career break in which I then found the role I am in to-date.
Current position
I am a data product owner and as part of this I manage the data backlog, responsible for resourcing and work with my stakeholders on prioritising data projects across the following business areas: Safety & Security, Engineering, Airports & Global Operations, Cabin Crew, Flight Crew, Operations Planning, Sustainability & Flight Technical.
Main motivation

Our current data estate contains multiple sources of the same data, often in a state that does not provide much value at times. I am working across multiple transformation programs which will completely change how we categorise our data and surface this to our end users so that they can maximise value from our data. Our aim is to build a series of trusted data products which in turn improves our management of data governance within BA.

Greatest achievement

When I joined British Airways, our department was only beginning it's journey into the adoption of agile practices. I implemented a series of agile methodologies within my team to improve our planning, prioritisation and overall delivery of key initiatives. These changes gave more over-sight to my stakeholders on how we are operating giving them further confidence in our ability to deliver.

Hey Neel! I was wondering about the Scope of projects at British Airways and what goes on in a day to day life at BA?

I have applied for Senior Data Scientist position ( 10148) and have just under 5 years of experience in various domains such as retail, executive search, script writing and telecommunications. Have worked quite extensively with Transformers and Recommendation systems. Thank you.
